Why I Write Erotica?
Writing erotica isn't the cash cow that some would have you believe. Don't get me wrong, there can be good money in it, but it takes endless hard work, skill and dedication. So why write erotica?
Sex:
Lets start with the most obvious reason, I like sex. Sex is hot and fun! It is fun having sex, thinking about sex and writing about sex. It pushes my imagination to consider all the different ways to describe a single human act.
Relationships:
As an erotica writer, I get to explore human relationships in a way that other authors don't get to. Erotica is freeing. There are endless opportunities to delve deeply into human emotions around sex, commitment, love, loyalty, desire, jealousy and everything else in between. A good erotica story has a solid foundation of strong dynamic characters that play off each other.
Brining it to the Mainstream:
When 50 Shades of Grey hit the scene, it suddenly became socially acceptable for women of all ages to talk about sex. Although, I don't agree with some of the issues in the book (some of the situations and expectations don't represent the community well), the new acceptance was amazing. Stay at home moms were discussing BDSM at PTA meetings. I want more of that. I want women and men to be able to be open about their kink as often as possible. By brining more romantic erotica into the world, I am trying to do my part in shifting the cultural conversation. At the very least, hopefully I will help some closeted kinky people get some satisfaction.
Community of Erotica Authors:
Although, like everything else, erotic fiction is a highly competitive market, the community of authors is amazing. Everyone I have come in contact with has actively worked to build each other up and support other erotica authors. Unlike other businesses the author's I have met have rejected the cut throat competition and embraced the common bond of being kinky freaks!
So I will continue on with my kinky, sexy, steaming hot erotica obsession. Be sure to read my latest in Femdom BDSM erotica: Absolute Control and Exposed: Encounters in Paris Book 1.
Keep an eye out for the next episode in Scott and Eva's adventures in Bound: Encounters in Paris book 2, in which Scott experiences bondage for the first time! Out next week!
